| UTTARANCHAL MITRA MANDAL VASAI is an independent organization, which inspires us to work for the betterment of humanity, indulge in charitable activities, etc. We seek guidance from this pious, holy, and reputed socio-cultural organization. It becomes very important and obligatory for us to express our gratitude towards such an incredible organization and to let the world know, what this organization is all about, its deeds, social objectives, visions, etc. thru this forum. Uttaranchal Mitra Mandal, Vasai Road (UMM-Vasai), was established on 2nd October 1988. The postal address of the Mandal is Uttaranchal Mitra Mandal –Vasai Road, Badrinath Mandir complex, Sun City, Vasai (West), Palghar, Maharashtra, India. The institution was established by a few Uttaranchalies who were staying in a suburb of Mumbai called Vasai. The main objective of establishing this institution was ; i) to have acquaintance and to promote brotherhood amongst all Uttaranchalis residing in Mumbai & its suburban areas, and ii) to save & promote Uttarakhandi culture in Mumbai. Now the institution has grown up and is supported and patronized by both Uttaranchalis’ and non-Uttaranchalies residing not only in Vasai, Mumbai and its suburbs but also in other parts of India and abroad. With the very humble beginning on 02.10.1988, Mandal’s membership has swelled to around 2500 as of 31.03.2020. The members are spread all over India and abroad, like Australia, the USA, UAE, & UK, etc. The UMM-Vasai is registered with the Registrar of Societies, Thane, Maharashtra, India under The Society Registration Act, 1860 vide its Registration No. MH/205-2001/THANE dated. 7th March, 2001. The Mandal is also registered with Charity Commissioner, Thane, Maharashtra, India under The Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950 vide its Registration No.F-9272-THANE dated. 31st May, 2001. The Charity Commissioner of Income Tax, Thane has issued Income Tax Exemption Certificate under Section 80G(5) of the Income Tax Act, 1961 vide Certificate No.: THN/CIT-III/80-G/730/UMM/08-09/670 dated 17.06.2008 & THN/CIT-III/80G/13/10-11/398 dated 31.05.2010. The Permanent Account Number (PAN) of Mandal is : AAATU1524B. The Mandal is basically engaged in social activities like:- Promotion of Basic Education by granting scholarships and freeships to deserving students. Imparting training on career counseling by arranging seminars from time to time etc. Promotion of Indian culture. especially that of Uttarakhandi culture & tradition to the young generation. This is done by organizing various religious and cultural events from time to time. Cultural activities like celebration of all Indian festivals with their cultural rituals and festivities. Organizing of Gyan Yagya, like Bhagwat Katha Saptah, etc., Havans (Spiritual Holy Fire) with Vaidik Indian rituals. Bhagwat Katha Saptah is managed through Shri Raghuvir Dass Prabhuji, Medical Director, ISKCON, Juhu, Mumbai. Promotion of basic good old Indian human values like compassion, care, cleanliness, respect, honesty, non-violence, tolerance, and brotherhood, etc. Promotion of charity and assistance especially for educational and medical purposes. Besides providing financial assistance to the needy students, the Mandal has been distributing books, notebooks to deserving students. The Mandal has also provided financial assistance to needy persons for medical purposes. The Mandal keeps on organizing Medical Assistance Camps and has so far distributed hundreds of Medical Appliances to the needy in collaboration with Ali Yawar Jang Institute for Handicaps, Bandra, Mumbai, a Govt. of India, enterprise and the Local Municipalities in the region. The Mandal keeps on providing financial and non-financial assistance /guidance to individuals and other charitable institutions like Vraddhashram (Old Age Homes), orphanage, etc. The Mandal is also engaged in providing assistance to Teerth Yatries– Pilgrims to Uttarakhand specially Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. This is done through Shree Badrinath Tours & Travels. The Mandal is also conducting daily Yoga classes in collaboration with the Vasai West Branch of Patanjali Yog Peeth, Haridwar. Promote Indian cultural values and inculcate these values in the young Indians. OBJECTIVES :
The Main objects of Uttranchal Mitra Mandal, Vasai Road (UMM-VASAI ) are as under:
1. To generally assist in meeting different socio-cultural needs of society like educational, cultural, religious, medical & social needs, etc.
2. To organize national cultural Programmes & events, especially all Uttarakhandi festivals and to celebrate them with full rituals.
3. To build, construct, repair, establish, and administer a Temple of Bhagwan Badrinath Ji, (a replica of Bhagwan Badrinath Ji’s Templesituated at Badarinath Dham, Uttarakhand). The Mandal may acquire, repair, adapt, and administer more Temples, from time to time, anywhere in India, as the committee may deem fit.
(An activity-wise detailed Policy Guidelines are being prepared separately, chalking out the rights, responsibilities, Do’s & Donot’s, addressing all questions like, who, where, how, why, when and why-not, etc concerning these activities.)
4. To build, construct, acquire, repair, establish, and administer a community center for the wellbeing of the society at large. This would be named “Manav Kalyan Kendra”. This Community Center would be an epicenter for all social and cultural activities of the Mandal. The Manag Kalyan Kendra would establish;
i) a Medical OPD Unit,
ii) A library,
iii) A Dharmshala (Temporary accommodation for needy),
iv) A Party Halls ( Sabhagrah),
v) Conference rooms,
vi) Canteen (Kitchen),
vii) Vocational Training classrooms.
(A detailed activity-wise Policy Guidelines are being prepared separately chalking out the rights, responsibilities, Dos & Donots, also addressing all queries like who, why, where, how, when and why-not, etc. concerning these activities) ,
5. To build, construct, acquire, repair, establish schools, colleges, and other institutions for the promotion of education, be it basic, professional, and/ or technical education. To provide scholarships, freeships, books, periodicals, and other study materials to poor, needy, and deserving students.
( A detailed policy guidelines would be prepared separately as and when this activity is undertaken by the Mandal)
7. To build, construct, acquire, repair, establish Medical colleges, Hospitals, (Ayurvedic, Allopathic, etc), Engineering Colleges, and other specialty institutions for the promotion & research in Medical, Engineering and other technical Education. It would entail purchasing of necessary medical appliances and equipment, maintaining pharmacy, blood bank, etc, and acquiring of ambulances, cars, Vans, etc. It would also require building, constructing, acquiring, repairing, establishing hostels/ homes/ accommodations for trainee boys and girls, students, workers, employees, etc.

8. To Provide medical assistance like organizing medical camps for general check-ups, eye check-ups, Blood Donation Camps, and providing other medical assistance.
9. To build, construct, acquire, repair, assist, administer, establish schools, colleges for physically challenged children especially for deaf and dumb
10. To build, construct, administer, establish, and run old Age homes for differently-abled and Senior Citizens i.e. Vruddhasram – OLD AGE Homes for Seniors.
11. To do any other social-cultural work, which, the committee deems fit to do for the benefit of its members, the society at large, it could be a donation or assistance in any form to people affected with natural calamities like flood, earthquake, Tsunami, War, Famine, or any other work etc. etc.
MISSION
UMM-Vasai’s immediate mission is to construct a REPLICA TEMPLE OF BHAGWAN BADRINATH JI & A COMMUNITY CENTRE i.e. MANAV KALYAN KENDRA BHAVAN – (A PRAYER HALL) – at Sun City, Vasai (West), Dist. Palghar, Mumbai, Maharashtra, INDIA.
To fulfill the above objectives, the UMM- Vasai, has already acquired a plot of land admeasuring about 22,700 sq. ft. (22 Guntha) ( FSI allotted: 22700 Sq. Ft) situated at Survey No. 108 Hissa No.7 & 3 of Village Dewan man Sun City Vasai (W), Dist. Palghar, Near Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
UMM–Vasai has received due N. A. approval from the collector of Thane, Maharashtra, India vide its NA Order No. Revenue/K-1/T-9/NAP/SR-113/2008 Office of Dist. Collector of Thane dated 6.10.2008.
The Mandal has also received approval from CIDCO (City Industrial Development Corporation) for construction of above premises vide its permission order No.: CIDCO/VVSR/CC/BP-3602 & 4503/W/4670/4671 dated 12.08.2009.
The proposed construction plan of the project is also approved by Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation (VVCMC) in October 2014.
PRESENT STATUS OF THE PROJECTS::
As on date – 31.07.2020 the construction work of the project is in full swings. The RCC work of Ground + all Four Stories of the Manav Kalyan Kendra- Bhavan have been completed. Similarly, the RCC work of Shree Badrinathji’s Temple has been completed. The Mandal is in the process of finalizing tenders/ quotations received from different contractors/ constructors of Temples, generally known as Sompuras. Once all the terms are negotiated and finalized with the contractors, the constructions of Temple work would also start in full swings.
MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS (Mile Stones)
The main achievements of UMM-Vasai, so far, i.e. since inception till 31.07.2020 are as under::-
i) Bhoomi Pooja of the project was done on 1st May 2010, by the Local MLA Shri Hitendra Thakur Ji and other prominent VVIPs from Uttarakhand.
ii) Shilanyas of The project was done on 01.02.2015 by the then Chief Minister of Uttarakhand – Mr. Harish Rawat ji together with Ex-Chief Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal (Nishankh). Both are well-known personalities of Uttarakhand- It’s a matter of pride for the Institution
iii) Appointment and induction of Shri Madhavanand Bhatt ji – Businessman – Builders and developers and Filmmakers- with the institution as Trusty and chairman of the Construction Committee for the Project. This has led to the speedy construction of the Project Buildings with minimal cost of construction.
iv) The UMM-Vasai could persuade Shri Raghuvir Dass Prabhuji- Medical Director of ISKON, Juhu, Mumbai to remain as Mandal’s Spiritual Guru. The Mandal has celebrated/ organized 9 Bhagwat Katha Saptahs till 31.03.2020 in the Project Premises.
Prabhuji’s guidance has been of immense value and benefits to the organization as under his spiritual leadership the organization has achieved fame & appreciation from the society and was able to approach Big Political, Business, and Religious houses in India.
v) UMM-Vasai could arrange & successfully manage various Medical Camps for Physically challenged persons in Vasai- Virar municipal area with the support/ patronage of Ali Yawar Jang Institute for Handicapped, Mumbai, India. This has been possible with the support of one of the founder members of the Mandal – Shri Gopal Sharma. The Mandal has also received support from local municipal authorities, like VVCMC (Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation), thereby getting appreciation from VVCMC in token of the social work carried out by the Mandal in the region.
vi) The Mandal has been able to get Free architectural support from Shri R.C. Tipnis, a well-known Architect in Mumbai. He was introduced to the Mandal by Shri Madhavanand Bhatt Ji. He has been rendering his services for the past 4/5 years now selflessly.
vii) UMM-Vasai has been able to get the support from one of the youngest Architect, Shri Mahendra Singh Rawat ji , who has been recently nominated to the Board of Trustees (Managing Committee),
viii) The Mandal was also been able to organize a Free Medical checkup Camp for a Heart ailment in association with the reputed Jupiter Hospital, Thane, Maharashtra. This has been possible with the wholehearted support by one of our valuable designatory – Shri Bhola Dutt Pathak ji, who is GM in Jupiter Hospital and a member of our Shanrakshak Mandal.
ix) The Mandal has been able to manage the prestigious visit by Hon. Governor of Maharashtra, Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari Ji, to the Bhagwat Katha Samaroh in February 2020 in Mandir Premises at Vasai. Governor of Maharashtra’s suggestion and contribution for establishing a Library in the Manav Kalyan Kendra at Vasai were appreciated very much by all.
THE BADRINATH TEMPLE CONSTRUCTION COMMITTEE :
The Mandal has been working professionally and has formed various sub-committees, for the smooth functioning of day to day work involving its members who specialise in their respective fields of profession. This leads to attaining all the benefits of specialisation, like minimal cost, Superior quality construction work, Speedy work, Minimal losses and wastage etc. etc. With the above aspect in view, the Temple construction committee consists of the following members. :
